poor/rich?
so i’ve found myself saying “i’m poor” a lot recently.
webster’s take on it:
1 a: lacking material possessions b: of, relating to, or characterized by poverty 2 a: less than adequate : meager b: small in worth 3: exciting pity <you poor thing> 4 a: inferior in quality or value b: unpretentious c: mean, petty 5: lean, emaciated 6: barren, unproductive 7: indifferent, unfavorable 8: lacking a normal or adequate supply of something specified
i don’t mean to over-intellectualize this topic b/c we don’t mean, literally, all that we say, but i don’t think this definition applies to me. so perhaps i should try to say “i’m poor” less frequently. b/c the truth is, regardless of my inability to travel the world/eat at every nice restaurant/buy my friends & self extravagent things - i live a rich life filled with blessing. perhaps the fact that i’m not rich in a monetary sense helps me realize this more. recognizing i have more when i’m poor. ironic.
